Pigeons and pest birds

Pigeon and pest bird control on farms

For problems caused by pigeons and other pest birds around crops, feed and farm buildings.

Problems around crops and buildings

Woodpigeon can damage crops, while feral pigeons can contaminate feed and foul agricultural buildings. Certain corvids can also cause problems with livestock, feed or crops.

Species and licence conditions

Wild birds are protected by law in England. Natural England's general licences allow certain species to be controlled for defined purposes, including preventing serious damage to crops, livestock or animal feed, and protecting public health or safety. A bird appearing on a general licence does not give unrestricted permission to control it.
